Jean-Gabriel Pageau
Forward, Ottawa Senators/Binghamton Senators, #44
Born on November 11, 1992, Jean-Gabriel Pageau is from Gatineau, Québec. In his first QMJHL season with the Gatineau Olympiques in 2009-2010, Pageau scored 16 goals with 15 assists and finished +4 in a total of 62 games. Pageau was one of the smaller and younger players in the league but was one of only five players on the team to score more than 15 goals. But it is during his 2010-2011 season that his true colours shined. Pageau scored 32 goals with 47 assists and finishing with a +23 rating. He was at his best during the playoffs where he led Gatineau to the Finals against eventual Memorial Cup champ St. John and frequently out-played more highly-touted prospects. This ultimately led to Pageau being selected by his hometown Ottawa Senators in the 4th round (96th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. He started his pro career with the AHL Binghamton Senators in 2012 where he recorded 29 points in 69 games. Pageau was called up by the Ottawa Senators on April 10, 2013 and finished the season in the NHL. On May 5th, 2013, during the Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals against the Montreal Canadiens, Pageau scored a hat-trick and was a catalyst for the team’s 6-1 victory. In doing so he became only the second Senators’ player to record a hat-trick during the playoffs with none-other than Daniel Alfredsson being the first. Pageau's outstanding all-around play has garnered him much praise and attention. His instincts and desire to compete in small spaces are first rate and can only be matched by his impeccable work ethic. Although he was sent to the AHL in early 2013-2014 season, Ottawa feels that Pageau, in addition to being a "hometown" pick, is an exceptional talent who can rise above the challenges his small stature bestows. Some even say that he is quite possibly the next Martin St-Louis.
